It’s that time of the month again… where I look back on what’s cropped up and consequently what I learned and loved during June 2019! This month has literally FLOWN by, and I am both equally excited to say goodbye to all the rain, and hello summer!
Listening to: Happier Podcast
The Gist: The #1 bestselling author of The Happiness Project and Better Than Before brings her practical, manageable advice about happiness and good habits to this lively, thought-provoking podcast
Why I loved it: I love a good start to the day, and this podcast is light enough to handle at 7am, and sets me up with handy tools to tackle the day.
Watching: Handmaid’s Tale (Sky)
The Gist: This BAFTA-winning drama, based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, explores a dystopian world where fertile women are forced into sexual servitude
Why I loved it: I’ve read the book and loved it, so this was the logical next step. No spoilers please, I’m half way through season 2 and gripped!
Reading: Lean In
The Gist: Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead is a 2013 book written by Sheryl Sandberg, the chief operating officer of Facebook, and Nell Scovell, TV and magazine writer.
Why I loved it: Earlier this month I was learning even more at Uni on a new coaching module, and so my head has been in academia mode. I love learning, so have been adding to my professional development bookshelf!
Visiting: RHS Chatsworth
The Gist: Set in the spectacular grounds of the Chatsworth estate, the RHS Chatsworth Flower Show enjoyed its third year of bringing innovative gardening ideas, insightful talks theatres and tradestands galore to Derbyshire.
Why I loved it: Chatsworth is 20 mins from my house and the opportunity to go and experience one of the house highlights of the year just filled me with joy. Next stop, the summer country fair!
What else did I learn and love this month?
This month has been an intensive learning one for me, given that I spent a whole week at Hallam University doing more coaching training. I won’t bore you with the nitty gritty details, but the things that came up for me were:
Women in busiess in senior positions need even MORE support (in my opinion). Us ladies can – and do – rock this, we just need a team of cheerleaders to feel awesome about it. I’m opening 2 pro-bono coaching slots per month, and if you think you’d like to chat or me to come to your office, send me an email.
Talking of cheerleaders, I’m excited to be booked on to join Sophie French and her magic on a gorgeous mastermind retreat in September. Can’t wait!
My camera hasn’t left my side all month, and stock photos are now available to purchase. Last weekend I sold my first batch and the feedback was amazing. Watch this space for more!
What have you loved and learned this month that I need to check out? Let me know in the comments!
