Well. 2020 was a year for us all, we know that, but my world did not stop turning and in fact I had some of my most successful months ever!
I kicked off the year with some super exciting branding projects – filling my diary with brand development calls and coaching sessions to weave together those threads of a business dream with my clients’ story and passions.
February was jam packed with brand photo sessions and my first boudoir shoot, so between scouting location sessions and editing at the desk, the month flew by!
Annnnnd March brought lockdown and with it a scarily empty diary!
But, it wasn’t to last thankfully and with a refocussed marketing campaign, April picked back up with website re-works and digital content creation – which continued through the summer with brand development, more logos and kick-ass businesses birthed into the world! To have clients taking lockdown as the perfect time to launch their businesses babies, I was honoured to be able to help and to be on their team.
By the end of Summer lockdown had ended for a short time, and I managed to get out to the Peak District for more mini-shoots whilst still juggling brand launches and my usual social media support clients.
Finally, by the time Autumn rolled around I had become a semi-permanent fixture in a client office, launched my new shoot space and essentially moved in. To close, an open weekend fully booked my shoot slots and soon it was time for Santa!
It’s been a crazy year so to have wrapped up with a fully functioning studio, a book pitch out to publishers and one of my most successful years to date, I can’t complain too much.
My word for the year
For years I have spoken about the need for authenticity in your business and brand.
Of how everything else is just noise, and will leave you deeply resentful, unfulfilled and falling out of love with your work.
And yet for some reason it has never been my word of the year. Why?
I thought that I was living it already, but the truth is that the whirlwind that was 2020 has shown me that I wasn’t. I was overlooking what I wanted, what excited me and was putting other people, clients and their priorities before my own.
Lockdown allowed me to tap into creative persuits that I’d been ignoring, and shown me opportunities that I’d always previously discounted or ignored.
Honestly, the stillness of lockdown has lead me to the deepest introspection and so this is it. Call it inspired by the Great Conjunction, the dawn of the Age of Aquarius or simply the Universe giving me one hell of a kick up the bum, it’s time for my word of the year to be authentic.

2020 woke us up to the truths and realisations that we have been ignoring for so long and so 2021 is our year to put that work into action.
With intentional practice, it is time to listen to our calling; what we need and what we want. Say goodbye to the ‘could’, ‘should’, and ‘would’ and start living our truth.
It’s been bubbling under everything I do for so long – I’ve done the work, it’s time to take action.
